Position Overview:

Working from our Valparaiso office, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, you’ll play a vital role in assessing and optimizing homes’ energy efficiency.

As a building energy modeler, your primary responsibility will be transforming blueprints into digital representations of homes to be constructed using specialized software. This process enables us to evaluate a home’s projected energy performance against local energy code compliance standards. Your keen eye for detail will ensure accuracy as you translate builders’ specifications into the software, fine-tuning energy designs for optimal efficiency.

While prior experience in construction or design is beneficial, it’s not a prerequisite. What matters most is your enthusiasm, adaptability, and eagerness to learn. Strong computer proficiency is a must for navigating our software tools effectively. Additionally, clear communication skills are essential for liaising with our builder clients, primarily through phone and email channels.

Job Description:
Energy Diagnostics is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Air Sealer. In this role, you will play a vital role in improving the energy efficiency of homes under construction by performing air sealing services. Builders across the country trust our team to provide meticulous air sealing that enhances the final product and ensures compliance with energy codes and standards. A company vehicle and all materials are provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform air sealing services at homes under construction to reduce air leakage and improve energy efficiency.
  • Utilize caulking, weatherstripping, and other sealing materials to seal gaps, cracks, and penetrations in the building envelope.
  • Work closely with builders and contractors to identify areas of air leakage and implement effective sealing solutions.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of homes to ensure proper air sealing techniques are applied according to industry standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at homesites and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for improving air sealing practices and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in air sealing, insulation installation, or related construction trades preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and priorities.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the job including climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
