Home Energy Sealer: Multiple Openings in Illinois

Job Description:
Energy Diagnostics is seeking a motivated individual to join our Home Energy Seal team as an Air Sealer. In this role, you will drive to homes under construction within northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin (Madison area), following a predetermined route provided each day. You will perform on-site air sealing services to improve the energy efficiency of newly built homes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-drywall and post-drywall air sealing to enhance home energy efficiency.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Track materials and maintain proper inventory.
  • Maintain assigned company vehicles and equipment to ensure reliability.
  • Represent Energy Diagnostics as a Brand Ambassador, upholding our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Location & Training Requirements

  • This position is based in northern Illinois and includes travel into southern Wisconsin (Madison area).
  • Energy Diagnostics is headquartered in Valparaiso, Indiana. Initial onboarding and training  will take place at our Valparaiso office.
  • After training, you will be routed from your home each day to perform air sealing services in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

What You’ll Do

As a Residential Energy Rater, you’ll play a key role in improving the efficiency and performance of newly constructed homes across Illinois.

  • Conduct onsite energy testing and inspections on new homes
  • Perform blower door and duct leakage testing
  • Analyze home performance using specialized software
  • Work closely with builders, contractors, and project managers
  • Help ensure homes meet energy codes and performance standards
  • Provide insights that help improve construction quality and efficiency

HVAC Designer

Job Description:

Energy Diagnostics is seeking an HVAC Designer to join our team. This role involves sizing HVAC systems, designing duct layouts, and ensuring compliance with energy codes and program requirements. You will use Wrightsoft HVAC design software to perform load calculations and generate Manual J, D, and S reports.

We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn. While experience in HVAC design or energy modeling is helpful, it is not required. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform HVAC load calculations and duct system designs using Wrightsoft
  • Generate Manual J, D, and S reports for energy code compliance
  • Conduct architectural plan takeoffs and assist with SketchUp modeling
  • Optimize energy design solutions for residential projects
  • Assist in energy value engineering to improve building performance
  • Work with other departments to refine HVAC design processes

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

Job Description:

Energy Diagnostics is seeking a detail-oriented and computer-savvy Preliminary Energy Modeler to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll work with builders during the pre-construction phase of residential projects, helping evaluate home plans for energy code compliance and overall energy performance.

This is an office-based position that combines technology, problem-solving, and customer interaction. You’ll spend much of your day working with software, reviewing plans, entering data, and analyzing results, while also communicating with builders to gather information and answer questions.

No prior energy modeling experience is required. We provide training and support to help the right candidate build a successful career in building science and energy efficiency.

What You’ll Do

As a Preliminary Energy Modeler, you’ll work closely with builders and internal teams to evaluate residential projects before construction begins.

  • Review residential construction plans and specifications
  • Create energy models using specialized software
  • Input project information such as insulation levels, HVAC systems, windows, and other building components
  • Analyze results to determine energy code compliance and performance targets
  • Generate reports and recommendations for builders
  • Communicate with builders to gather missing project information and clarify design details
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely project completion
  • Maintain organized project records and documentation
  • Stay current on evolving energy codes and industry requirements
