Energy Star Certification Process
Initial Plan Review
Thorough assessment of proposed plans to determine program eligibility through energy modeling software
Preliminary Inspection
Pre-drywall inspection to verify components, insulation, air sealing, and building envelope features to determine any deficiencies with Energy Star checklist
Final Inspection
Test home's ducts, infiltration, ventilation, room pressures, static pressures. Complete all checklists
Project Certification
Determine certification based on testing and completion of checklists for qualification of Energy Star labeling and documentation
Section 45L Tax Credit for Energy Efficient New Homes has been updated and extended through 2032.
Homes acquired on or after January 1, 2023 that meet Energy Star Certification may be eligible for tax credits of $2,500 per unit. Available to builders and developers to incentive energy-efficient new construction, the 45L tax credit can provide substantial tax credits on qualifying projects.
